It will start in Tiverton and travel 53 miles through the state finishing on the Connecticut/Rhode Island border in Westerly. All competitors are required to have a support team assisting with logistics throughout the race.

Divisions for Race the State include individual, 2, 3, 4 and new for 2016 a 5-person relay. Also new for 2016 is a new stand up paddle course, which is 1-mile across the Sakonnet River from Fogland Beach in Tiverton to Sandy Point in Portsmouth. The change in course for the paddle makes leg 3 of the race a challenging 12.3 miles from Portsmouth to Fort Adams in Newport.

All entrants will receive a signature t-shirt, an entry to win a 9’6” Peter Pan designed Ace Tec Big Sport Stand Up Paddleboard (a $1,000+ value), a commemorative Race the State sticker, and a subscription to Canoeroots, Rapid or Adventure Kayak magazine.
