PABST BLUE RIBBON TO HOST CATCH AND RELEASE FISHING TOURNAMENT ON EAST COAST

Tournament Begins in June and Categories Include Striped Bass, Bluefish, Fluke

Newport, RI (April 12, 2016) - Pabst Blue Ribbon is proud to announce that the 5th Annual Pabst Blue Ribbon Fishing Tournament will be entirely catch and release. This summer’s tournament will be held over a ten-week timeframe, beginning June 12 and ending August 20, and will be open to anglers throughout the East Coast including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Long Island, NY.

"Sustainability has always been one of the major goals of the PBR fishing tournament and for 2016 we really wanted to take it to the next level,” said Rob Reilly, Pabst Blue Ribbon’s East Coast field marketing director. “This year’s change in format will make the tournament one of the largest catch and release tournaments in the U.S. and we are beyond thrilled to kick off our fifth year in the waters of the Northeast.”

The tournament is proud to support the New England Lions Club and the Annual VIP Fishing Tournament for Visually Impaired Persons (VIPs) for a third consecutive year.

The Pabst Blue Ribbon Catch and Release Fishing Tournament divisions will include Striped Bass, Bluefish and Fluke.  Participating anglers will receive a limited edition PBR ruler to use for submissions, as well as a t-shirt, hat, koozie and keychain upon registration.  The longest caught and released fish of the week in each division will be awarded $300, and weekly leader prize packs in each division will be raffled off amongst anglers who submit a fish that week. The longest three fish caught, measured, photographed and released over the 10 week period will be used to determine overall aggregate length. The top three anglers in each division with the longest aggregate length of their catch and release submissions will be awarded prizes for first, second and third place at the end of the competition.
